THE INCESSENT USE OF THE FILLER WORD "LIKE"!

Is there some plausible explanation for the incessant use of the filler word "like" in much of today's verbal communication! Last night I was watching an episode of a reality show, and it seemed that "like"was used almost every 3rd or 4th word. EXAMPLE: Is there "like" some "like" plausible "like" explanation for the "like" incessant use of the "like" filler word like in much of"like" today's "like' verbal communication?
